Nice to meet you, I’m Soyeon. This name was given to me in the hopes that I will spread brightness onto others.

I enjoy travelling, thinking, and through this exploring the things that surround and affect us—spaces, societies, and more. Through my practice, I strive to discover the meaning behind these questions and create new conversations.

Currently, I am based in London, studying a BA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London.

A hermit crab’s shell home is a borrowed, empty shell of a sea snail, that is often swapped as they grow. Depending on its habitat, they can adapt into different shells or other hollow objects.

Hermit States is a project looking at travellers and those who live with the constant uncertainty of the future, battling with their tangled fragments of identity and belonging.  

This project aims to highlight the lives of those who find their sense of home in spaces that are not their own.
