Brightness Spreads

Nice to meet you, I’m Soyeon. This name was given to me in the hopes that I will spread brightness onto others.

I enjoy travelling, thinking, and through this exploring the things that surround and affect us—spaces, societies, and more. Through my practice, I strive to discover the meaning behind these questions and create new conversations.

Currently, I am based in London, studying a BA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London.

Chase
depicts two cats running inside a domestic space. The speed at which they move is too fast for the human eye to capture, creating a sense of dynamic motion. The digitally captured image invites viewers to reflect on the fleeting nature of movement and the intersection of the digital and physical worlds.

My work often begins from continuous conversations, including discussions, text messages, debates, and academic research. With Chase, I wanted to explore the captivating movement of cats and the ways in which digital technology can capture and represent dynamic motion, even if it’s from a video sent over text.
